"Ladyfest New Orleans is a non-profit, music, spoken word and arts festival organized by local women of all identities. Its mission is to showcase, celebrate and encourage the music, poetry, art and activism of the women of New Orleans, and to benefit local organizations that support women. The first Ladyfest took place on August 2000 in Olympia, Washington. It followed the Olympian tradition of festivals, where people gathered together to share ideas, talent and abilities. It featured performances by bands, spoken word artists, visual artists and more.

Ladyfest is a community-based, not-for-profit global music and arts festival for female artists that
features bands, musical groups, performance artists, authors, spoken word and visual artists, and
workshops; it is organized by volunteers.

The first ever Ladyfest was held in Olympia, Washington in August 2000 with over 2000
people attending. Prime motivators in the event were Sarah Dougher, Sleater-Kinney, Cat Power,
Neko Case, and Teresa Carmody.

"LadyFest is a community based, not-for-profit, festival established to highlight female artists, bands, musical groups, media producers, and visual artists organized by volunteers. This festival came about as a result of the DIY ethic and "Riot Grrrl" movements in Olympia, Washington as well as the many contributions by authors on inclusive feminist philosophy. The primary organizers of LadyFest are women, but everyone is encouraged to attend and volunteer at every festival.

Das Ladyfest 2004 ist eine mehrtägige, städteübergreifende Plattform zur Präsentation feministischer und queerer Kunst, Literatur und Musik, eingebunden in ein weltweites Netzwerk (www.ladyfest.org). Die Geschichte des Ladyfests geht zurück auf die Riot-Grrl-Bewegung in den USA Anfang der 90er Jahre.
