"Ladyfest Hawai'i is a local version of a global movement of lady artists, educators and community organizers creating festivals of music, performance, visual art, and workshops. The original Ladyfest happened in August 2000 in Olympia, Washington. Since then Ladyfests have happened in 41 cities around the world. All Ladyfests are local-based, Do-It-Yourself, grassroots, not-for-profit (but rich in many other ways), massive creative efforts by ladies, for ladies and the entire community. Ladyfest Hawaii is slated to happen in Honolulu during March 2005.

"Ladyfest Mülheim lives up to the spirit of the first ladyfest.
It will be a noncommercial, queer-feminist counterpart to the otherwise sometimes unpolitical events. Especially women, lesbians and transgender people, who are underrepresented in many fields, get the chance to share their know-ledge via workshops and presentations, to perform and to present their creative work, without fearing sexist, hetero-normative or binary gender judgement. Our Ladyfest is also open to people defined as male to question patriarchal and capitalistic structures, if they support the idea of ladyfest.

About me:
Ladyfest Bournemouth was part of Oxfam's 'Oxjam 2006' campaign - Oxfam's biggest and most ambitious music festival to date. It took place between the 26th and the 29th October '06, and was extremely successful!

To date, Ladyfest has raised £2000 for Oxfam!

We are using this money to purchase the following items through the Oxfam Unwrapped Catalogue:

# weil immer noch Männer die künstlerischen, musikalischen und viele andere Ebenen dominieren...

Dem wollen wir, wie VeranstalterInnen in vielen anderen Städten, etwas entgegensetzen- Spaß vor allem und das Gefühl, dass etwas gehen kann. Wir wollen Mut machen, zeigen, dass es sich lohnt auszuprobieren und umzusetzen was bisher nur lang gehegte Träume waren...
