Astra was founded in 1919 by the Swedish Women's Federation in Finland to encourage women's activities and serve as a connecting link of Swedish women in Finland, but also to promote women's issues beyond language barriers and national borders. Since 1992 the magazine gets published under the new name Astra Nova by the Utgivarföreningen för tidskriften Astra Nova r.f.

Magazine of the Spanish association AMECO which was founded in 1994 by women working in various media to improve the image of women in media, fight against sexism in media and for equal opportunities for women working in the media; emphasis on gender and media, women/sexism in media/TV/film and advertising, women journalists, gender and new technologies, equality etc. so far 9 issues have been published, the last one in 2007; AMECO also runs AmecoPress, a news agency specialized on information from a gender perspective.

" Contra-Diction has developed out of a couple of Birmingham magazines that have bitten the dust. It is run as a collective, in the loosest sense of the word. Articles and visuals have been contributed mainly by women. Seit einiger Zeit kommt Bewegung in die hiesige Medienlandschaft: Mehrheits-Medien und die Kommunikationswissenschaft entdecken die Migrant_innen neu - als Produzent_innen und Konsument_innen von medialen Inhalten. Zugleich wächst auch das Interesse an Medien von und für Migrant_innen, nicht zuletzt aus ökonomischen Gründen. Ein Themenschwerpunkt über die Möglichkeiten der medialen Selbstrepräsentation für Migrant_innen und die Sackgassen der Diversitätslogik im Medien-Mainstream.
