We assembled the beautiful and jagged pieces of our collective experience, the lessons and the scars, to create an atlas of alternative maps to the particular breed of madness that gets called bipolar, and the ways people are making it through.

Microcredit: an alternative for women´s empowerment? (WIDE event in Brussels)

WIDE, in the current context of its work on the neoliberal agenda, will
address the issue of microcredit as an alternative for women´s
empowerment during a one-day conference organized on the 15th of May in
Brussels.
The conference will aim at providing a comprehensive approach to microcredit: its specificities and impacts in the South, its implementation in the EU and its challenges especially in the context of the current financial and economic crisis. It will be an opportunity to gather different views and share experiences around microcredit practices.

FETT (Magazine)

Fett is a feminist magazine, which comes out with four issues per year. The magazine is published by the Women's Front, with financial support from the Freedom of Expression and the Norwegian Cultural Council, but the editorial work on independent basis. Fett is a member of the Norwegian Association Journal (www.tidsskriftforeningen.no)

Who are we to make fett? A lot of promising women and a few men who are tired of the usual press buy and sell stereotypical notions of gender and sexuality. Now hold it!

cunterview.net is an inclusive project by Civil Society Organization named Expanse of Gender and Media Culture 'Common Zone', based in Zagreb, Croatia. We are giving our contribution on bridging ICT gender gap through
a) education based on skill exchange
b) technical, artistic and multimedia workshops
c) having women-made media space.
With online database of women artists and news portal (which are on cunterview.net incorporated one in another) we tend to raise visibility of women artists and participate with dynamic and diverse voice in the media map of Croatia.

Bunnies on Strike (website & zine)

Bunnies On Strike is a work in progress. And it grows! It is no longer just a zine: it's a website, it has a spoken word section, a radical cheerleading section, had a band and a more then music festival and is still growing. But we want Bunnies On Strike to grow in more aspects. We are now working on organising a festival called GENDER OUTLAW that will contain performances of bands together with other kinds of performances [think of dj's spoken word performances, reading/storytelling, games, radical cheerleading, films, foodsharing etc.]

DW: Please introduce yourself.....

T: My name is Tea, I’m 29. I have been involved in a lot of organising in the former squat (that now has a sort of an in-between status between legality and illegality), now Autonomous Cultural Center Metelkova mesto in Ljubljana. It is a big space where there are a lot of alternative cultural spaces. I was organising a lot of concerts and other events, including Red Dawns, obviously, but personally I am really really interested in writing so basically that is my priority – fiction, essays, translation.

Nataša Serec (N): My name is Natasa and I have worked in Metelkova Mesta for 15 years. I was one of the people who squatted the place in ‘93 and since then and I am very very involved. This place was before was in use of the Yugoslavian army and then when they left the buildings were free and in the city many artists – this was in the beginning and many projects - artists and art producers got places for their work.

"LaD.I.Y.fest is a non-profit volunteer run 'Do It Yourself' (D.I.Y.) festival of music, art, performance and workshops organized and orchestrated by feminist activists, artists and musicians of various genders. It helps to showcase the skills and talents of a diverse group of groundbreaking feminist people working in the arts, community building and activism. It is a PARTICIPATORY festival, a community festival.

In Berlin we take on the idea of the first Ladyfests of 'empowering the presence of women in the arts' and try to take it further, outside the binary gender system."
