Movement Politics: The Revolution Is Longer Than We Think (Event Oct 30th, 2010; VBKÖ Vienna)

type=project
Teaser Image:

We http://www.vbkoe.org have recently engaged with the defining, positioning and constructing levels of the notion of a "women's movement." We problematized the non-naming of the first, feminist artist women's movements within history-writing.

In "Movement Politics. The Revolution Is Longer Than We Think," we further expand these analyses within an art historical, collective and activist context. We decipher their new potentials for feminist forms of action. We will carry that out through critical interview material and virtual conversations with the following participants:

Katy Deepwell (in an e-mail interview with Rudolfine Lackner: “Reconsider Evidence,” October 2010): Art Historian, founder and editor of n.paradoxa: international feminist art journal.

Valie Djordjevic and Diana McCarty are the co-founders of the women-only mailing list FACES and will present and discuss it in a virtual talk at 3pm.

WASSINQUE INC. (Artist Group Amsterdam est. 2010 in Amsterdam): "Unique Individuals and Survival, or Connecting the Interior and the Exterior or the Freedom to Be Irrational or Off the Top of My Head or Heart on My Sleeve, Etc." in a talk with Rudolfine Lackner, October 2010.

On the occasion of the centennial anniversary, a program for the year will be presented, which is composed of theoretical activities and a growing annual exhibition. Currently, works by 100 Poster Club, Amanda Amaan/Rudolfine Lackner, Elke Auer/Esther Straganz, Linda Bilda, Veronika Dirnhofer, Lina Dokuzovic, Drogerie, Nino Jaeger and Sands Murray-Wassink are on display. All of the activities refer to the historical origin of the VBKÖ in the androcentric totalities of institutions and to current links of resistance predominantly imprinted by feminism.
