SlutWalk* Lisbon – for sexual self-determination in all circumstances

In January 2011 a Toronto police officer said women should not dress provocatively if they want to avoid being raped. SlutWalk Lisbon joins the wave of indignation that this statement caused all over the world.

We'll be meeting at Veteran's Park on June 25 to rally, walk, and bring awareness to slut-shaming in our culture, institutions, and lives. We'll be posting information about the route shortly.

A little history-

Mas Hombres y Mujeres decidimos alzar la voz y expresar a la sociedad que estamos cansados de que se nos culpe, agreda y violente, por nuestra forma de vestir, pensar o actuar!.

Unidas elevamos nuestras voces para exigir a la sociedad civil, política, religiosa y cualquiera que sea su función en este país, que no importa la vestimenta, el lugar, ni la compañía; NADA justifica las violaciones sexuales o el acoso sexual.

We are going to march and rally to show that, no matter what you're wearing, no one deserves to be raped, assaulted, or harassed.

Note that this event isn't just for women, and isn't just for women dressed as sluts. We want all Sluts AND Allies there-- dress as you please, whether it's a corset and fishnets or sweatpants and a t-shirt. Victim-blaming affects people of all genders and, no matter what you're wearing, you don't deserve to be targeted for it.
