Slutwalk Melbourne is on again in 2015! The 2015 march will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2015 outside the State Library. We will march to stand against victim blaming and slut-shaming. Commencing from 1:00pm outside the State Library, our march will continue to be a short one, down Swanston Street and finishing at Federation Square. There is no dress code, and all are welcome.
Our speakers include:
– Van Badham, columnist and activist (MC)
– Jane Green, Scarlet Alliance Vice President
– Sally Goldner, Transgender Victoria Executive Director
– Nabila Farhat, women’s advocate for Shakti Australia
We are including a seated section at the front of the rally outside the State Library for those with mobility issues. We those that may require a seat to please privately contact SlutWalk prior to the march (you can reach us via this website, or through a Facebook message). We will also have special volunteers to offer assistance to anyone struggling with triggering content of speeches.
SlutWalk Melbourne is not politically affiliated, but we welcome all supporters of SlutWalk to march under their own banners to represent groups, organisations or associations. Every year we welcome families, unions, charities, businesses, religious groups, political parties, NFPs and any other body who wants to stand with us, to march and show their support for survivors.
SlutWalk is an inclusive event that unapologetically puts survivors first. But whatever your gender identification, age, colour, class, relationship status, sexuality, disability, or other aspect of your identity, you are warmly invited to join us in condemning victim-blaming and slut-shaming of any kind.
