Women's Parliamentary Radio

type=digital_archives

Women’s Parliamentary Radio, an online radio station designed to give exclusive coverage to women’s issues and female parliamentarians in the UK. www.wpradio.co.uk was founded in 2007 and currently receives up to 56,000 hits per month. Our aim is to give exclusive coverage to women’s issues in government and provides a platform for female politicians to speak free from stereotypes and the pressure of the news agenda.

WPR Books is a part of www.wpradio.co.uk and is an independent online platform which publishes the work of new female writers. The project is designed to foster new talent by offering female writers the chance to showcase their work to WPR listeners, politicians, agents, and journalists.

We know that by collaborating with other female writers of all ages we can not only help to profile their work but help to progress the policy-making agenda too by showing that the themes and narratives we create in fiction are relevant to the age in which we are living. The slogan ‘the personal is political’ remains a siren for the feminist movement, and WPR Books is no exception.

WPR Books is calling for submissions of poetry, fiction or prose, from female writers whose work explores issues affecting women with creativity and originality. The project aims to be a platform for writing which helps to position the feminist agenda outside of the established political arena, in order to enhance an understanding of how feminism and politics can affect women in new and unexpected ways.

For more information please see http://www.wpradio.co.uk/books.html

Submissions should be sent to the editors Samantha and Sophie at WPRsubmissionsatgmail [dot] com.
