Red Dawns Festival 2011: Call for Proposals

Marking its 12th year, the International Feminist and Queer Festival Red Dawns is going to take place at various venues of AKC Metelkova Mesto (Ljubljana, Slovenia) between March 8th and 11th 2011.
The organizers invite aspiring artists, activists, researchers and collectives whose works explore issues of the body, gender identity and sexuality, to participate in the festival. Feminist and queer views on other axes of difference and social justice are welcome as well.
Submission deadline: Wednesday, January 5th 2011

Call for proposals to participate in Urban Art Projects Marking its 12th year, the International Feminist and Queer Festival Red Dawns is going to take place at various venues of AKC Metelkova Mesto (Ljubljana, Slovenia) between March 8th and 11th 2011. Artists and craftspeople of all genders are invited to submit their projects, which will be presented at Metelkova mesto as part of Urban Art Projects.
Priority will be given to projects which follow the feminist and queer orientation of the festival and are set out in “Metelkova” style, meaning:
- they give emphasis on recycled art,
- they are not solely limited to the artistic side but also have wider social implications,- they are interesting as playthings-artefacts for children,
- their costs do not exceed 1.300 €.
Priority will be given to first-time applicants and applicants who have fully met the proposal conditions in the past. The application should include short descriptions of the project, the financial plan and the author’s references.
